Guild History

We were founded in 1991, by original founder, Wally Clark, and became a non-profit corporation in 1993.  We provide storytelling education to the general public, both at guild story swaps and at specially organized events and workshops, a point of contact and referral serve for people who want to hire storytellers, and disseminate information about storytelling in the area through our quaterly newsletter, the Guild Gazette.

We work closely with other educational and arts organizations, and we sponsor storytelling events, concerts, conferences, and workshops every year.  The South Coast Storytellers Guild sponsors annual Tellabration (the international night of storytelling) concerts in coordination with the National Storytelling Association.

South Coast Storytellers Guild received the 1997 Pacific Region Service Award from the National Storytelling Association, for their contributions of service in the field of storytelling.

We welcome everyone to our monthly story swaps, and we do regular mailings regarding upcoming storytelling events.
